The mission of the Concordia Theatre Program is to propel students to excellence in intellectual understanding and artistic experience.
Concordia Theatre is an educational enterprise that explores social issues, raises questions of faith and ethics, and challenges students and audiences. Through the Theatre program, students identify their values in relation to important life decisions, understand and appreciate the contributions of art in contemporary society, and make choices based on an informed understanding of the collective human condition.

Concordia Theatre's academic and co-curricular program is committed to developing students’ gifts of mind, body and spirit. The faculty and staff believe that liberally educated Theatre students should demonstrate the following attributes:

Intellectual Rigor

Concordia's Homecoming Committee works hard throughout the year to plan and execute all of the events that occur during Homecoming week! We plan and walk in the Homecoming parade, alumni events, Homecoming dances, and much more! Our committee has an executive team that helps lead the committee from spring to fall in planning these events for students and alumni, which allows for leadership positions! It is a great opportunity to meet new Cobbers, gain event planning skills, and have a blast during Homecoming!

Intramurals offers a variety of opportunities to all Concordia students, faculty, and staff. The environment provides competitive opportunities, while remaining recreational in nature. All sports are welcome to individuals of any skill level. Grab some friends, form a team, and get competitive!

The Lorentzsen Center honors the life, work, and legacy of Norman M. Lorentzsen, renown philanthropist, former CEO of Burlington Northern, alumnus of Concordia College, and former member and chair of its Board of Regents. Through his life and generosity, Norm helped to build a joyful, just, and more trustworthy world. In honor of that legacy, the Lorentzsen Center takes up the question, “How do we build a more trustworthy world?” We explore that question through keynote events, a podcast, and a regular newsletter.

NextGen Collective is a career readiness program designed to assist first-generation college students in becoming future first-generation professionals. Our program includes career-oriented workshops, an alumni mentorship experience, and a final networking event with alumni mentors and employers. This initiative is in partnership with the Career Center and the Center for Student Success.

Mission
Concordia Speech & Debate is for people with a passion for advocacy, life-long learning, and a growth mindset. We are a nationally-ranked top 20 program. No experience is required to join us! Only a willingness to grow. Through in-depth research and consistent rewriting, our students create speeches and performances that move people to take action. There are opportunities in areas that employers are seeking including communication, leadership, coaching, professionalism, teamwork, critical thinking, equity and inclusion, and career and self-development. The time commitment is 1 hour of individual coaching a week and one team meeting a week. We expect our team members to travel to three tournaments a semester. New team members are expected to compete in 2 events and after that first season, team members will compete in 3 events. Our events include: Impromptu, Extemporaneous, Prose, Poetry, Drama, Duo, Program of Oral Interpretation, Informative, Persuasive, After-Dinner Speaking, and Communication Analysis. To join Concordia Speech & Debate, you need to audition. Auditions are open year-round. Send us a short video clip of a speech you have given (or are giving), and a brief paragraph of why you want to join Speech and Debate. We'll set up a time to interview you and answer your questions.
